Mega Millions Drawing

Someone in Mecklenburg County just got a whole lot richer.

A resident of Cornelius used the Online Play option to purchase a $3 Megaplier ticket and matched all five numbers to win $1 million, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery. The $1 million prize quadrupled to $4 million when the 4X Megaplier hit.

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to $376 million. You can watch the drawing live on WRAL just before the 11 p.m. newscast.

The North Carolina winner is one of three nationally to win the largest prize in the drawing. The winner has 180 days to claim their prize.

If someone wins Friday's $376 million jackpot, they can choose to take the full sum over 29 years or choose instead to take home $256.4 million in cash.

The Mega Millions jackpot has been growing since October. The odds of winning a Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302 million.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 and can be purchased online or in participating stores until 10:45 p.m. on Friday night.
