Man visiting NC to help friend move wins $200K in lottery game featuring Luke Combs

A New York man's trip to North Carolina became unforgettable thanks in part to his Luke Combs fandom.

Terrance Pertillar was visiting North Carolina from Riverhead, New York, to help a friend move. He won the first $200,000 top prize in a new scratch-off game featuring country music star and North Carolina native Luke Combs.

“This is a once-in-a-blue-moon thing,” Pertillar said.

Pertillar said he was helping his friend relocate to Henderson when they stopped to get gas at the Granville Food Mart on N.C. 158 in Oxford. He noticed a Luke Combs scratch-off display in the store and bought a $5 Living Lucky with Luke Combs ticket.

“I’m a fan of Luke Combs,” Pertillar said. “I saw his ticket so I bought it.”

After finding out he won, elation set in.

“I was like, ‘Wow, is this real?’” he recalled.

After taxes, Pertillar took home $142,501.
