Man suffering mental health crisis at Lowes Foods taken into custody

Officers are currently responding to a mental health crisis in the parking lot of the grocery store.

Cary police peacefully took in a man experiencing a mental health crisis into custody Monday evening.

According to the police, the man had locked himself inside his truck at the Lowes Foods parking lot at 6430 Tryon Road near the intersection of Tryon Road and Cary Parkway.

Police said the man made several threats of self-harm. Crisis negotiators were able to speak to the man and convinced him to come out of the truck to seek medical treatment.

Police are currently working to clear the scene.
