Man Sought in Cary Burglary Injured After Car Chase

Part of Lochmere Drive in Cary reopened early Thursday after a crash involving a man suspected of burglary closed the road overnight

Investigators said the man broke into the Lodge Apartments' office. When officers responded, the man fled in a car.

Officers said they lost sight of the man when he turned off his car lights. Investigators said they discovered he ran off the road, hit a tree and was thrown from the car.

State troopers estimated that he was going 70 mph when the accident occurred. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was expected to undergo surgery. There were no other injuries.

Authorities withheld the man's identity Thursday morning.
