Police are searching for a man who threatened employees with a handgun and robbed a store in Burlington late Saturday night.

Two employees were leaving Anna's Linens at 2737 S. Church St. around 11 p.m. when a masked man approached them. He flashed a semi-automatic handgun and ordered the employees back into the store, officers said.

Once inside, the robber forced one worker to open the safe, while the other lay face down on the floor. He took money from the safe and was last seen running west on Church Street toward Hickory Avenue.

Police described the suspect as a light-complexioned black male in his 40s or 50s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a slim build. He was wearing a black or dark-colored ball cap, a green jacket, brown gloves and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 336-229-7100.
