Man shot to death at Sanford bar

Police say a 29-year-old man has been shot and killed in a bar in Sanford.

Police are investigating the shooting death of a 29-year-old man at a Sanford bar early Sunday.

Jonathan Owens, 29, of Sanford, was shot to death shortly before 2 a.m. at Carli's South Bar and Grill, at 1512 Westover Drive, police said.  He had been shot in the upper left arm area and was taken Central Carolina Hospital, where he died.

Christopher McCormick, 22, of 1212 Burns Drive in Sanford, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in Owens' death.

McCormick was being held Monday without bond in the Lee County Jail. It was unclear if he has an attorney.
