Father charged with adult son's murder in Durham

A Durham father is charged with murder after his adult son was shot and killed on March 17.

According to the Durham County Sheriff's Office, around 10:30 p.m. deputies were called to a home on Red Mountain Road in northern Durham County.

Matthew Austin Lockamy, 39, was found dead, and a family member confessed to the shooting, deputies said.

Witnesses said the shooting occurred during a physical fight between the man and his father.

Durham County EMS were unable to revive Lockamy at the scene.

Several weeks later, on April 8, Kenneth Wendell Lockamy, 68, was charged with murder. He was being held on a $500,000 bond.
