A Raleigh man was sentenced Friday to at least 25 years in prison for the slayings of a couple two years ago.
James Arthur Whitaker, 46, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the April 17, 2007, deaths of Simon Alonzo Taylor and his wife, Christina Ida Brown Taylor.
Police found the remains of the Taylors in a wooded area east of Capital Boulevard. Investigators said it appeared the Taylors used the site as an informal encampment.
Whitaker was acquainted with the Taylors, police said.
