A man was life-flighted to UNC Hospitals Saturday night after his vehicle went off the road and down an embankment into a creek.

The accident happened around 10:45 p.m. on Campbell Road off Highway 421 in Chatham County. The man’s name and condition weren’t released.

The vehicle came out of a curve and ended up in the creek, which was low on water due to the drought, according to Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Black.

Authorities planned to do a more in-depth investigation Sunday when they have daylight.
