Man impersonating Wake EMS worker took patient's blood pressure

Raleigh police are investigating a man for potentially impersonating a paramedic.

Wake County EMS reports that in one case, the man took a patient’s blood pressure before legitimate first responders arrived.

Raleigh police are investigating and trying to figure out if any crime has been committed. No charges have been filed.

Wake EMS sent out a letter internally, telling EMS staff to be on the lookout. Wake EMS issued a “situational awareness bulletin” about a man impersonating medics.

The memo was issued internally and obtained by WRAL. The memo said said the man, in his early 20s, has showed up to several medical calls over the last month.

The man was seen driving a decommissioned Raleigh police cruiser. He’s also been seen with a yellow radio or scanner. In some cases, the man wears a yellow polo shirt issued only to EMS recruits.

The memo said the man started EMS training, but did not complete the program. Police know who the man is, however they have not publicly identified him.
