A man died after being hit by a train in Fayetteville on Wednesday.

Police were called for a report of a pedestrian being hit by a train near West Russell and Winslow streets just before 1 p.m.

The man died at the scene, according to police.

Hay Street at Winslow Street, Russell Street at Winslow Street and Rankin Street at Winslow Street were closed as police investigated.

Drivers were asked to use Blount and Rowan Streets instead.
