Man drowns in Moore County pond
The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Juan Vieyra-Segundo of Southern Pines.
Officials investigate drowning in small town of Cameron
The Moore County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man who drowned in a pond this past weekend.
Saturday at 2 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a drowning at a pond on Cypress Church Road in Vass.
Responding deputies and EMS personnel found 42-year-old Juan Vieyra-Segundo of Southern Pines a short distance away from shore, where his kayak was overturned.
According to witnesses, he had been fishing at the pond prior to the drowning incident.
The investigation into Vieyra-Segundo's death is ongoing, and an autopsy through the NC Medical Examiner's Office is pending.
