Man dies in Granville County wreck
One person died in a single-vehicle wreck at 3185 Bruce Garner Church Road shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday, state troopers said.
State troopers said a 26-year-old man died in a single-vehicle wreck at 3185 Bruce Garner Church Road shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday.
Christopher Lamont Estes, of Durham, was driving west on Bruce Garner Church Road when he lost control of his vehicle and slid off the road.
The car collided with a driveway culvert, flipped over several times and landed upside-down on a sign for Rock Spring United Church of Christ, troopers said.
Estes died en route to the hospital.
The church sign was demolished.
Authorities said speed was a factor in the wreck.
