Police charged a Wake Forest man with second-degree murder Sunday after he allegedly shot another man at the home they shared, a town spokesman said.

Spokesman Bill Crabtree said that police found David Jefferson Acree, 53, who had been shot in the chest, at 800 Stadium Drive around 8:15 a.m. They arrested Dwayne David Ross, 49, at the scene.

Acree died just before noon at WakeMed, Crabtree said.

How the men knew each other was not disclosed.

Ross was being held without bond at the Wake County jail Sunday. He also faces an assault with a deadly weapon charge and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
