Man dies after Smithfield shooting

A Four Oaks man died early Thursday after being shot in Smithfield Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Officers responding to reports of gunshots in the 300 block of North Sixth Street around 3:40 p.m. found Terry Lee Young Jr., 24, injured.

Young was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he died.

The State Bureau of Investigation and Johnston County District Attorney's Office were assisting police in the investigation.
