Man convicted in cocaine, marijuana drug bust

A Durham man got a prison sentence of more than 16 years after a jury convicted him Thursday of trafficking hundreds of pounds of cocaine and marijuana.

Durham police arrested three men on Friday, April 13, 2007, and seized what they said was 94 kilograms of cocaine, along with marijuana and cash.

A Durham man got a prison sentence of more than 16 years after a jury convicted him Thursday of trafficking hundreds of pounds of cocaine and marijuana.

Prosecutors said that Luis Castellanos Gomez, 36, was in possession of 94 kilos, or 206.8 pounds, of cocaine and 150 pounds of marijuana when he was arrested April 13, 2007.

Gomez was caught in a drug bust by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Durham police. The led to the seizure of $2 million worth of cocaine, $150,000 worth of marijuana, a weapon and approximately $300,000 in U.S. currency.

Filemon Lopez Rebolledo, 28, who police said had addresses in Yakima, Wash., and 2804 W. Main St. in Durham, and Jose Antonio Gonzalez Velez, 38, of 120 Alexander Drive in Oxford, were also arrested in the case.
