Man claims 'self defense' after Moore County shooting

Justin Edward Chriscoe told sheriff's deputies he acted in self defense in shooting another man Sunday morning in Moore County.

Chriscoe, who called 911 to report the shooting, said he had an ongoing dispute with the man.

Deputies were called around 10:30 a.m. with a report of a gun shot fired at the intersection of N.C. Highway 705 and Chrisco Road. While they were on their way, Chriscoe called 911 to tell his side of the story.

A 35-year-old victim was taken to a trauma center in Chapel Hill.

Chriscoe, also 35, of Yow Road in Seagrove, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and booked into the the Moore County Detention Center in Carthage where he was held under a $200,000 secure bond.
