Man charged with indecent exposure at Southern Pines park

A 56-year-old Aberdeen man has been charged with indecent exposure and driving while intoxicated.

Police received a report on Sept. 12 of a person exposing himself at Reservoir Park in Southern Pines.

Witnesses reported the suspect vehicle description and officers stopped a vehicle matching that description on Central Drive (N.C. Highway 22) as it left the park, police said.

An investigation determined that Phillip Jeffery Edwards was exposing himself in a public place in the presence of minors and that he was intoxicated when operating the vehicle, police said.

Edwards appeared before a Moore County Magistrate and was placed under a $21,000 secured bond pending trial on Sept. 30 in Moore County District Court.
