A man was arrested in West Virginia and charged with murder in connection to the death of a woman last month in Hoke County.

D'Angelo Cox was arrested on Tuesday in Bluefield, West Virginia, and transported back to Hoke County, according to the Hoke County Sheriff's Office. He was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bond.

The murder charge stems from a shooting that happened on June 8 in the area of Mallow Street near Braddy Road. Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said deputies responded to the shooting around 12:30 p.m. that day and found Deldrina Chambers, who had life-threatening injuries.

Chambers died a day later at a local hospital.

Cox was initially found and placed under the supervision of a parole officer but fled, according to previous reports.
