Police on Friday charged a Henderson man with firing a gun inside Maria Parham Medical Center Thursday evening.

Jan-Michael Vincent Lassiter, 29, of 106 Gwynn Pond Road, was charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property, carrying a concealed weapon, going armed to the terror of the public, injury to personal property, disorderly conduct, discharging a firearm in the city limits and concealing a handgun after consuming alcohol. He was being held in the Vance County jail under a $60,000 bond.

Police were supervising a mental patient receiving treatment at Maria Parham's emergency room at about 6 p.m. when they heard a gunshot come from a nearby restroom. Officers immediately arrested the man in the restroom.

No one was injured in the shooting.
