Man charged with damaging downtown Raleigh planters

Police said Tuesday that they have charged a man with damaging several large planters on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh last week.

Omar Rhasheen Simmons, 29, was charged with injury to real property.

Police said he knocked 10 planters off their bases last Wednesday morning, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage
