A local man has been charged in connection with a two recent break-ins at a church, police said.

Demetrius L. Jones, 20, of 416 Cedric St., was charged with two counts each of felony breaking, entering and larceny and possession of stolen goods.

A resident told police Monday that a man was seen walking away from Holy Tabernacle of Jesus Christ, at 238 Bonnie St., with stereo equipment. Officers discovered the church had been burglarized and located the man a short time later, police said.

The stereo equipment was located and returned to the church, police said.

Jones also was charged in connection with an Oct. 16 break-in at the same church. Lawn equipment was taken during that incident, police said.
