Man surrenders to Fayetteville police following standoff

A 21-year-old man surrendered to Fayetteville police Thursday night about four hours after he barricaded himself inside a home on Branchwood Circle, authorities said. 

Law enforcement officials said DJ Terrance Cordell shut himself inside a mobile home about 5:15 p.m. when probation officers and Fayetteville police officers attempted to take him into custody for a probation violation. 

Cordell initially tried to escape from the home through a window, but police blocked his exit. 

A child inside the home was able to get out safely, but police would not say how the child escaped. 

No one was injured during the standoff, and Cordell surrendered to police shortly before 10 p.m. 

Cordell was not charged in connection with the barricade. But he was charged probation violation, failure to appear on charges of driving while license revoked and aggressive driving, failure to appear on a charge of obtaining property by false pretense, failure to appear on a charge of possession of stolen goods, fleeing to elude, reckless driving, speeding, conspiracy, breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon.

He was held on a $15,300 bond.
