Police have arrested a man in connection with an early morning shooting on Thanksgiving in the parking lot of Cross Creek Mall that left three people injured.

Marquis Powell, 22, of Fayetteville, is charged with attempted first-degree murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle, police said Wednesday.

He was being held at the Cumberland County Detention Center in lieu of $100,000 bond, according to investigators. Police said additional charges could be filed in connection with the mall shooting, which began as a fight and was posted on Facebook

Fayetteville police were called around midnight on Nov. 23 to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center after three people arrived there with gunshot wounds. Police have said the three were shot during an earlier fight in the mall's parking lot.

Investigators have identified the victims as Jamil R. McMillian, 24, who had been listed last week in serious condition. Rachelle N. Jones, 33, was treated and released. A third victim, identified as Trenton T. Powell, was also shot, but investigators have not provided any information on Powell's condition.

Police did not provide information about what sparked the fight and shooting. Investigators have said that they were reviewing the Facebook footage as part of their investigation.

Investigators said a group of people arranged to meet in the parking lot after business hours, where the fight started. During the fight, someone pulled out a handgun, and numerous shots were fired, police said.

Police and deputies surrounded the mall's parking lot and stores last Thursday night, but mall officials the security increase was planned before the shooting, to prepare for the holiday shopping rush.
