Man turns himself in for sexual assault at Goldsboro health facility

Police said a contractor who was working at a Goldsboro health facility is accused of sexually assaulting three women.

Warrants were obtained for Daniel James Chase for three counts of second degree forcible sex offense. Police said Chase was an independent contractor working with the Goldsboro Spine Center.

A woman reached out to WRAL News earlier in January and said she was sexually assaulted by Chase on Jan. 3 at The Day Spa at the Goldsboro Spine Center.

On Jan. 3 and 4, Goldsboro police got reports of alleged sexual assaults that occurred at Goldsboro Spine Center on Spence Avenue.

Chase, 45, turned himself in on Monday and was given a $25,000 secured bond. Police said Chase was an independent contractor working with the Goldsboro Spine Center.

"I’ve been having a difficult time sleeping because I just go over it over and over it again," said the woman, who WRAL News is not naming as she says she's the victim of a sexual assault.

The woman said her first red flag was an aggressive touch.

"I turned over onto my stomach and then he reached around and was still aggressively rubbing that left hip," she said.

From there, she says he touched her inappropriately.

"I panicked, like did that really just happen? I told him that's not OK."

The owners of Goldsboro Spine Center would not provide a statement but did tell WRAL News that Chase is suspended and has not seen patients since they became aware of the allegations.

This woman is now sharing her story to protect others.

"It's important to come forward with things like this," she said. "I’ve even told my older children about this situation. That it’s something you should be able to talk about. It’s not something you should hide. That’s how we stop it. By talking about it."

This is an ongoing investigation.
