Police make arrest in fatal Raleigh shooting

A 25-year-old Raleigh man was arrested early Wednesday in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in northeast Raleigh.

Brian O'Keith Davis II was jailed without bond on a charge of murder in the death of Danielle Anita Hodges, 27, whom police found dead in her home, at 3552 Limber Lane, shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Davis lives at the home, too, according to an arrest warrant.

Police haven't commented on their investigation, but in a 911 recording released Wednesday, an unidentified woman who also lives at the home reported that Hodges was Davis' girlfriend and that "they've been having problems off and on for quite a few days."

"Please hurry," the caller told the 911 dispatcher. "She's a mother, please."

Davis has previous arrests, according to arrest records, including a March 2009 charge of assault on a female and a April 2011 charge of assault by pointing a gun, but those charges were eventually dismissed voluntarily.
