Mallard Creek tackle Umar Rockhead commits to UNC-Charlotte
Rockhead is the first in-state prospect in the class of 2024 to pledge to the 49ers.
Mallard Creek High School offensive tackle Umar Rockhead became the first in-state class of 2024 prospect to commit to Biff Poggi and the UNC-Charlotte 49ers on Sunday.
Rockhead announced his choice to his Twitter account.
Rockhead picked the 49ers over offers from James Madison, South Carolina State, East Carolina, Liberty, NC Central, Appalachian State, Williams & Mary, and Coastal Carolina.
The rising senior measures in at 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds.
Mallard Creek finished last season with an 8-4 overall record. The Mavericks fell to conference rival Hough in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 4A state playoffs by a score of 16-6.
