The loop from I-40 West to U.S. Highway 70 West, or Exit 306A, will close over the weekend for construction.

If you are driving through the area this weekend make sure to allow for extra time for the detour and work zone.

The closure will begin at 9 p.m. on Friday so that crews can tie in pavement to shift traffic onto the new exit loop.

The new road is scheduled to open by 5 a.m. on Monday.

If you are passing through the area, you will be directed to drive up to Jones Sausage Road, or Exit 303, to turn around and access US 70 West toward Garner and the White Oak Crossing shopping center.

This construction is part of a widening project from Southeast Raleigh to Clayton.
