Longtime Brooks Elementary principal dies

The longtime principal at Raleigh’s Brooks Museums Magnet Elementary School died unexpectedly in her sleep Tuesday night, according to school officials.

Felicia Locklear had been the principal at Brooks Elementary for 18 years.

In a statement, her family said the community was "very dear to her heart."

The school will have counselors on hand when students return to class on Monday.
