QVC fire investigation likely to take weeks

Several Rocky Mount businesses came together on Thursday afternoon to spread holiday cheer to QVC employees impacted by a massive fire last weekend.

Food truck William's Creations teamed up with JD's Grocery & Grill to hand out barbecue chicken and pork chop plates. The event for QVC employees was held at Trash 2 Treasures at 540 S. Wesleyan Blvd. in Rocky Mount.

Approximately 75 percent of the 1.5-million square foot QVC distribution facility was damaged in the fire. One person, Kevon Ricks, 21, died in the fire.

A special guest - Santa Claus - also came to Thursday's event and was expected to pass out gifts to QVC employees and their families, according to a post by William's Creations on Facebook.

The first 100 employees who came to the event received a gift card, and there were different raffles including cash, toys and other household items, that employees could enter.

QVC employees were required to present their work badge in order to attend the event.

Trash 2 Treasures posted on Facebook that there would be donation boxes set up at the shop, and encouraged people to consider donating items for pets of QVC employees.

"I am sure that for those with furry family members, it would help if they didn't have to worry about feeding them," Trash 2 Treasures wrote in a Facebook post.

The shop added that it would be a supplies drop-off spot for shelters in the Rocky Mount area all year long.
