Graduation

What are your favorite graduation memories? College or high school. It doesn’t matter. Maybe it was an inspirational speech. Perhaps it was the giddy laughter of a graduate or the sea of tassels turning on a beautiful blue sky day.


I have no memory of my graduation from UNC. It’s because I didn’t go. I really regret that. When I graduated it was considered “cool” to skip the ceremony and accept the diploma in the mail from Chapel Hill. So I have no photos. No videos. No memories. How sad.


I am so glad that my daughter Lauren considered it "cool" to attend her college graduation. We had a great time in Boone this past weekend renting a cabin along the New River and celebrating her degree in elementary education from Appalachian State University. We did it up right: the special cake, a couple of nice dinners, lunch with the chancellor. And lots of photos.  View an audio slideshow from the weekend.
