Lejeune Marine dies in Afghanistan

A Marine assigned to Camp Lejeune has died in Helmand province, Afghanistan, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.

Lance Cpl. Jordan L. Chrobot, 24, of Frederick, Md., died Sept. 26 while supporting combat operations. He was a rifileman assigned to 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune.

Chrobot deployed to Iraq from October 2007 to May 2008, and to Afghanistan in May 2009. He qwas awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Iraqi Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and a Certificate of Commendation.
