'League of Legends' esports tournament coming to PNC Arena

PNC Arena has been chosen to host the League Championship Series Spring Finals this April.

It marks Riot Games' premier North American esports tournament for the game "League of Legends."

According to a statement from PNC, The LCS Spring Finals will be held April 8 through April 9 and will be presented by GrubHub.

The LCS is the largest professional esports league in North America for the word's most-watched esport, "League of Legends."

"League of Legends" is also the basis of the Emmy-winning television series "Arcane."

"Raleigh has established itself as an international hub for esports and gaming," Said Raul Fernandez, Head of Americas Esports at Riot Games. "The LCS is excited to activate it's community, bring them together through a set of unique activities that will make the conclusion of the 2023 Spring Split one that will reverberate through fans for years to come."

In July 2022, PNC Arena hosted the Apex Legends Global Series Year 2 Championship. "Apex Legends" is a first-person shooter produced by Electronic Arts and developed Respawn Entertainment.

The Raleigh Convention Center Center hosted a tournament for one of the most popular first-person shooters games of all-time, "Call of Duty."

Tickets for the Spring Finals will be available through Ticketmaster, with a presale at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26. General tickets will go on sale at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27.
