Law enforcement links UNC, Duke, Chapel Hill robberies

Law enforcement agencies in Durham and Orange counties are joining forces to track two men suspected in armed robberies on the campuses of Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and in the Town of Chapel Hill over the past 48 hours.

In each incident, victims described two to four assailants in their early 20s and a light tan or gold sedan used as a getaway car.

The first robberies occurred around 11 p.m. Wednesday outside a UNC dorm. Around midnight Friday, Chapel Hill police received reports to two robberies within 10 minutes about a half-mile apart on East Franklin Street. Another robbery was reported at Duke-owned apartment complex on Swift Avenue shortly before 2 a.m.

The robbers took cash, cellphones and other items, police said.
