Smoke filled the air in a Johnston County neighborhood after a major fire flattened a mobile home on Wednesday.

Johnston County firefighters working to put out fire at mobile home park

Smoke filled the air in part of Johnston County after a major fire destroyed at least two mobile homes on Wednesday.

A large fire response could be seen near NC Hwy. 242 and Woods Crossroads Road. Firefighters were on the scene for several hours fighting the flames.

Multiple fire vehicles were at the scene, as well as several ambulances. The fire trucks had hoses connected to a pool full of water.

One structure appeared to have been destroyed in the fire. Firefighters were spraying the charred remains down with water.

One mobile home had a gaping hole both sides, with smoke pouring out.

It is unclear what caused the fire or how the fire reached both structures, which were not in close proximity.
