La Farm Bakery continues to grow

La Farm Bakery announced plans Thursday to open a location at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport later this year.

La Farm Bakery, which is owned by Master Baker Lionel Vatinet and Missy Vatinet, opened its flagship location in Cary's Preston Corners in 1999. The bakery also has locations at 220 W. Chatham St., and a location inside of the Whole Foods Market on 5055 Arco St.

The RDU full-service bakery and cafe will be La Farm's fourth location.

“We are thrilled to support RDU as they seek to showcase the heart and soul of the Raleigh-Durham area in our thriving airport,” Missy Vatinet said.

Just like La Farm's other locations, RDU will have a steam-injection MiWi hearth oven so bread can be baked on-site. The location will also offer La Farm's first full-service bar.

Last week, La Farm Bakery was awarded the 2019 WRAL.com Voters' Choice Award for best baked goods. La Farm has also been named among the "10 Best Artisanal Bakeries in North America” by USA Today.

The RDU location is expected to open in winter 2020. Until then, La Farm will operate a pop-up bakery in the patio setting at the Marketplace in Terminal 2. The pop-up will offer a selection of artisan breads, pastries, sandwiches, salads and coffee.
