At least one Kroger Fuel Center in the Triangle has now closed

The Kroger Fuel Center at 6300 Creedmoor Rd Ste 150, Raleigh, is no longer open for business as of Thursday, June 14 at 11 pm. The Kroger grocery store confirmed the closing via phone on June 15. You can still use your Kroger Fuel Points at Shell gas stations and other Kroger Fuel Centers for the time being.

In addition, an employee at the Creedmoor Rd. store shared that this Kroger grocery store location will be closing on July 14, ahead of the other stores which are expected to close on August 14, 2018.

Allison McGee, Kroger Corporate Affairs Manager, shared in an e-mail that "At this time, we anticipate the remaining fuel centers will close when the stores close. Customers may accumulate fuel points up until June 30, 2018. Fuel points may be redeemed at open Kroger fuel centers or participating Shell fuel centers until closing day.  We are currently working on communicating fuel point information to our customers. At the Creedmoor Rd. fuel center, we did have signage on each dispenser and on the kiosk window beginning Wednesday afternoon June 13th stating the fuel center would be closing on 6/14 at 11pm."

Customers who planned to purchase gas at the Creedmoor Rd location Friday morning were surprised to find the gas station closed. One Smart Shopper reader shared, "Kroger Fuel Center at Lynnwood Collections closed on Thursday night (06/14) with scant warning! No e-mails from Kroger or visible heads-up signage to give customers a chance to use fuel points. Tried calling other Kroger stations but no one answers (and who can blame them). Yet they still have 4X fuel pts message on gift card kiosk & Kroger website. Shell accepts Kroger points but only 100 at a time, for 10 cents off per gallon."

Other Triangle fuel centers we contacted including Apex and Durham are still open and operating on a normal schedule.

So for now, you have until June 30, 2018 to accumulate fuel points. Then you have until closing day, which should be August 14 for most stores, to use those points.

Kroger announced on Wednesday, June 13 that they would be closing all 14 Kroger stores in the Triangle by mid-August.
