Nicole Williams, Scott's mother, said that her son was the one who was killed in a shooting.

Scott's mother and girlfriend told WRAL News that they want justice for his death.

"Nobody wants to experience a phone call or a text or anything in the middle of the night saying that their son has gotten shot," Williams said.

Williams said that her son, who called her every day, was a good kid. They had just moved to North Carolina from Atlanta, and she is struggling to cope with his loss.

"My son meant the world to me. He was very educated. He loved music. He loved to look nice, and he loved to keep his hair done," Williams said. "He stayed alone to himself and he was a great child. He didn’t deserve this."

Scott was at his girlfriends house at McDougald Terrace the night of his death. The last time she saw him he was standing on her porch.

"He was with a group of boys. When I went back in the house I guess they walked off and went up the street to where it happened," said Jamiya Tilson, Scott's girlfriend.

Tilson was getting her hair done when she got the call that her boyfriend had been shot. She put on her shoes and ran outside.

"There I saw a bunch of people screaming and hollering. I saw caution tape, and I saw them carry him out. I saw his feet dangling, and it broke me all the way to pieces," Tilson said.

The family is working with police to find and hold Scott's killer accountable. They want his death to be remembered.

"The last thing I have to say, is long live him. Forever and ever and ever," Tilson said.

The shooting happened Wednesday around 10:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Ridgeway Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a juvenile boy who had been shot. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Police initially said a woman had also been shot, but police are now saying she was not shot. The woman sustained injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was at the scene, where investigators could be seen searching the area and placing evidence markers.
