Just stay home: Snow-related crashes reported across the Triangle
Snow began to fall across the Triangle on Monday, accumulating on roads already wet from Sunday's snow. The number of drivers on the road led to several serious crashes that closed lanes or whole directions on major highways.

Wake County
Northbound Interstate 87 is closed near Exit 419 for Interstate 440 in Knightdale due to a car crash.
An accident on Interstate 440 West, near East Six Forks Road, closed two out of five lanes at mile marker 8.
U.S. Highway 1 southbound has reopened at N.C. Highway 540 near Cary after a crash closed the road.
A crash Monday morning blocked the ramp from Interstate 40 West to I-440 West, leading to delays in that area. The accident closed three of four lanes on I-440 at mile marker 15 at Poole Road. It was cleared around 7:30 a.m. Officials said weather likely played a role in the crash.
Two of the four left lanes on U.S. 1 in Cary are closed near Exit 96 for Ten-Ten Road.
A left lane was closed on I-40 eastbound near Exit 309 for U.S. Highway 70. North of Zebulon, N.C. Highway 96 was closed near Ferrell Road due to power lines in the road.
Durham County
In Durham, a water main break closed North Gregson Street between West Trinity Avenue and Minerva Avenue.
As snow picked up in northern parts of the Triangle, some vehicles stalled on the side of the road.
“It’s a good time right now to go ahead and pick a spot and plan to stay put for a little while longer,” Shrader said as the snow began. “If you’re on your way to work, getting ready for work, you might want to rethink that.”
Raleigh-Durham International Airport said Monday morning that most airlines would operate normally but with scattered cancellations and delays. It recommended passengers check their flight status with their airlines before going to the airport.
RDU listed more than 20 departing flights canceled Monday morning.
