I had a blast last month meeting families who were attending Theatre Raleigh's version of "A Midsummer Night's Dream," and I'm looking forward to another afternoon there as the local theater company opens the next show in its family series - "Adventure Road: A Story of Tom and Huck."

The 50-minute show opens Friday at the Kennedy Theatre at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh. It runs on select days through April 29. For the 3 p.m., Sunday, April 15, show, Go Ask Mom again will team up with Theatre Raleigh, offering a 15 percent discount on tickets.

To get that discount, just use the offer code goaskmom when purchasing tickets on Theatre Raleigh's website. Go Ask Mom also will offer a craft at the show starting at 2 p.m. when the doors open.

"Adventure Road" takes a different spin on "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," two classics by Mark Twain. Inside the small Kennedy Theatre, a black box space, the show features opportunities for audience participation and original music. It's recommended for third graders and up, but any age is welcome.

Hope to see you there!
