Johnston County Schools to proceed with traditional graduation ceremonies; prom to be seniors-only

Johnston County Public Schools officials have announced plans for this year's graduation and prom celebrations.

JCPS said nearly all of its member high schools will hold traditional graduation ceremonies or multiple ceremonies on Friday, May 28. Families can opt out of this ceremony should they choose.

On Tuesday, June 1, Each high school will hold a drive-through ceremony for families that opt out of the May 28 ceremony. Students and parents should consult with their specific school for more detailed plans.

Johnston County Early College Academy and Johnston County Career and Technical Leadership Academy will hold personalized graduations for individual graduates on Friday, May 14.

Proms will be held in indoor/outdoor venues and exclusive to seniors. Each school will communicate specific details in regards to their prom schedule.

Last year, proms had a limit of 100 students and were held outdoors.

The plans are in compliance with guidelines from the Johnston County Public Health Department and the CDC.
