Keionte Gainey has been hired as the new head football coach at J.F. Webb, he announced on his Twitter account on Tuesday.

Gainey is coming over from Smithfield-Selma, where he worked on Deron Donald's staff as the Spartans put together their best season in years with a 9-2 record. Donald has since been hired as the head coach at Garner.

The Warriors struggled last season to the tune of a 1-8 record with the win coming over Granville Central.

Webb went 3-5 in the fall of 2021 and 1-6 in the COVID-shortened spring 2021 season.

The Warriors are set to bring back some of last season's offensive contributors in Daymion Williams and Jabari Hunter.

Webb's schedule is not yet complete, but the version currently posted on MaxPreps lists a non-conference game against American Leadership Academy-Johnston as well as conference games against Vance County, South Granville and Louisburg.
