Raleigh's parks department has rescheduled Friday evening's Holiday Express because of the wintry mix in the forecast.

People with tickets for Friday’s Holiday Express can attend the scheduled rain date on Monday, Dec. 11. Original tickets from Friday’s event will be valid for Monday’s event, according to the city.

If guests are unable to attend the rain date, refund requests must be submitted in writing and should be sent to holiday.express@raleighnc.gov. Refund requests must be received by noon, Tuesday, Dec. 12.

Also: For those without tickets, but want them, a new event will be created on Eventbrite for Monday night in which refunded tickets will be resold to guests wishing to attend. So, if you don't have tickets and can go on Monday, you may be able to purchase tickets that somebody else had to give up. I'm told that tickets will be available through this Eventbrite link > holidayexpress.eventbrite.com.

Friday's forecast includes cold weather and the potential for a wintry mix. Cara McLeod, marketing communications coordinator for the city's parks department, said the city also is keeping an eye on Saturday's forecast, which has a smaller potential for some flakes.

Tickets for Holiday Express - about 1,500 per night - sold out within hours back in July. The annual event opened Thursday evening and runs on select days through Dec. 17. The evenings include holiday lights, visits with Santa, rides on the park's carousel and train and more.

The parks department also will post notifications about the schedule on its social media pages.
