Greene County prison escapee caught nearby

A man serving a sentence for obtaining property by false pretenses spent about 36 hours in the woods after escaping from the Greene Correctional Center in Maury, which is about 80 miles southeast of Raleigh.

Authorities said Waylon Flynn, 37, was serving a sentence for obtaining property by false pretenses. He was admitted to prison in July and was scheduled to be released in December.

A man spent about 36 hours in the woods after escaping from the Greene Correctional Center in Maury, which is about 80 miles southeast of Raleigh.

Authorities located and captured Waylon Flynn at about 8:30 Monday morning.

Flynn, 37, was serving a sentence for obtaining property by false pretenses. He was admitted to the prison in July and was set to be released in December.
