Traffic delays around Fort Bragg follow deployments, security measures

Increased security plus the end of the holiday season were causing traffic issues around Fort Bragg on Monday.

The base is conducting a 100% ID card check at access points, which means all adults must present their IDs.

Fort Bragg visitors must get a pass at the All American Visitor Center.

More than 3,000 troops from the base have been deployed to the Middle East as tensions between the United States and Iran escalate.

On Monday morning, a water main break on Butner Road also slowed traffic.

Adam Luther, spokesman for Fort Bragg, said the return to normal after the holiday season also caused backups at access points.

“They’re all pretty much backed up at this point,” Luther said around noon on Monday. “They should be clearing now, but they were definitely backed up this morning.”
