A Mother's Day tweet from IHOP that featured a sonogram of a woman's womb full of pancakes is trending -- but not in a good way.

The May 12 tweet read, "If you have pancakes in your tum tum, does that make you a pancake mum mum?"

The post then wished all moms a happy Mother's Day.

Early Monday morning, the tweet had more than 6,000 likes, more than 1,000 retweets and 2,600 comments.

The Washington Post reported that the backlash from the uterus tweet came during a national conversation about highly restrictive abortion laws.

“And @IHOP weighs into the most controversial space in American politics in the last 50 years,” said writer Molly Jong-Fast.

Others commented on the tweet, just commenting that it was odd, and some called the tweet "worse" than IHOP's "IHOB" burger promotion last year.

“Gonna be real with you IHOP, this is a really bizarre tweet,” said Parker Molloy, editor at large for the liberal media watchdog group Media Matters for America.

"And people thought they couldn't ever come up with a worse concept than their IHOB thing," wrote one Twitter user.
