I-540 project to close part of I-40 starting Wednesday for bridge work
Weather permitting, I-40 East will close at U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 309) at 10 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday and reopen at 5 a.m. the following mornings.
Bridge work for the Complete 540 project is set to close part of Interstate 40 starting Wednesday.
Weather permitting, I-40 East will close at U.S. Highway 70 (Exit 309) at 10 p.m. from Wednesday to Saturday and reopen at 5 a.m. the following mornings.
In addition, the median lane of I-40 West will also be closed Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Detour
At Exit 309, drivers can take U.S. 70 East to N.C. 42 West back to eastbound I-40.
Drivers should use caution when traveling through the detour and be alert to construction crews working in the area.
