I-40 West in Raleigh to close overnight Thursday for widening project
Weather permitting, I-40 West will close Thursday at 10 p.m. and reopen Friday at 5 a.m. Eastbound I-40 will have the median lane closed overnight Thursday into Friday morning as well.
Interstate 40 West will close Thursday as part of the widening project.
Work on Interstate 40 continues from U.S. 70 to N.C. 42 as part of the I-40 widening from Southeast Raleigh to Clayton project.

As a detour, traffic on I-40 West will need to take N.C. 42 East (Exit 312) to U.S. 70 West back to I-40 West.
Drivers should slow down and be cautious of crews and equipment while driving through the work zone.
