Hoke sheriff offers reward in rape case

The Hoke County Sheriff's Office has released a sketch of a man believed to have a raped a woman in a residence in eastern Hoke County on Oct. 22, 2008. The sheriff's office has offered a $1,000 reward leading to an arrest in the case.

The Hoke County Sheriff's Office has offered a $1,000 reward leading to an arrest in a rape reported a week ago.

Investigators said that a man forcibly entered a woman's home in eastern Hoke County and then assaulted and raped her on Oct. 22. The rapist might be involved in door-to-door sales, detectives said.

The sheriff's office released a forensic facial reconstruction done with the assistance of the Fayetteville Police Department.

The sketch shows an Indian or Hispanic male in his mid to late 20s, with dark eyes and hair. He stands about 5 feet 8 inches tall and has a slim build. He is well groomed and has neatly trimmed goatee and long sideburns. He wore a diamond stud earring in his left ear.

At the time of the attack, the man wore blue jeans, a dark khaki-colored shirt with a front logo, clean, white Adidas pump shoes and a Duke baseball cap, investigators said.

Anyone with information about the identity or whereabouts of the attacker was urged to call the Hoke County Sheriff's Office Detective Division at 910-875-1653.
