Highway Patrol: Man hit by car, killed near Zebulon was walking in the middle of the road

A man was hit and killed by a car Friday morning while walking in the road.

Around 5 a.m., the State Highway Patrol and Zebulon Fire Department responded to a crash on Old Bunn Road at Parks Village Road, near Zebulon.

Officials at the scene said a man was hit while walking in the darkness in the middle of the road. The driver, who stayed at the scene, will likely not face charges.

The identity of the person was not provided.
